Today more than ever, it's extremely important to choose a company who has a history of stability, success and a solid financial standing.
Do your research before making a choice. Has this company been in business for a long period of time? Do they have a strong financial standing? Have they ever declared chapter 11 bankruptcy or reorganized their business?
Dun & Bradstreet (www.dnb.com) is a credit report service that will provide you with the information you need to determine a company's financial history and status. If a company is not listed or has a low financial rating, caution is advised. And of course, you should check with the Better Business Bureau, a national organization that protects consumers and lists any outstanding complaints a company may have against them.
Some companies who market large discounts and substantially lower prices, or try to convince you to move forward quickly, are struggling financially and desperately need the business. It's our natural instinct to choose a company with the lowest price, but I strongly encourage you to look deeper and determine why this company was able to present you with such a low price.
