Our commitment to building your dream home is personal.

Beginning Our Relationship

Your journey begins by researching Wisconsin Log Homes in magazines and through our website, informative brochures, and by talking with one of our experienced home consultants. In many cases, our clients will also visit our headquarters in Green Bay, Wisconsin to learn more about who we are and what we do first-hand. During your visit, you will meet the team you'll be working with very extensively throughout your entire project. You will also tour our in-house design center, showroom, manufacturing mill, and nearby log & timber frame model homes.

Getting to know each of our clients on a personal level is important to us – whether it be over the phone and e-mail, or in person. By learning more about you and your family, we're able to get a better understanding of your dream home needs.

Because we want to give you the personalized attention you deserve during your visit and take as much time necessary to discuss your project plans and visions, we ask that you call us ahead of time and schedule an appointment with one of our Home Consultants before you make the trip to our headquarters. With your scheduled appointment, we can also set up a tour of our Showroom and private model homes.

Once you feel comfortable and decide that Wisconsin Log Homes is the right fit for you, the exciting adventure begins!

On-Site & In-House Design Consultations

During the early design phase, we will gather information about your building site and decide if an On-Site Design Consultation will be appropriate for your needs during the Preliminary Design Process. At your site, we'll walk your property together and look for major views and setback issues like wetlands or area restrictions. We'll also consider nearby homes, topography and grade, and determine where the sun sets and rises. Taking all these details into consideration, we'll discuss design possibilities that will maximize exposure and aesthetics, and create a home that will blend effortlessly into its surroundings. On-Site Design Consultations are especially beneficial when dealing with unique and more complicated building sites.

In the research and planning stage, you will have the opportunity to meet with your personal Wisconsin Log Homes' consultant, design team, and in-house general contractor to discuss your project visions and cost parameters in detail. During these pressure-free meetings, you will meet with our design experts to discuss your ideas and expectations. We will also discuss your project plans and needs in detail, create conceptual sketches of your home's initial design if required, and determine turn-key cost parameters and design feasibility. It is our priority to make sure that you are completely informed and comfortable before making a commitment to move forward.

Planning & Preliminary Design

The Amber Ridge

Designing a log, timber frame or hybrid home that will fit your needs, visions, property, and budget is the most critical step in the process. During initial design meetings, clients present their home consultant and designer with ideas they've collected over time – rough sketches, photos, magazine tear-outs, etc. At this time, we will also discuss your needs, ideas, and budget in detail so we can create a basic layout for your log or timber frame home, within your cost parameters for the entire project.

Throughout the preliminary design stage, our design and construction experts will offer suggestions and options for your floor plan, and forward your plans back and forth until you are completely satisfied with the overall design. Our On-line Conference technology allows you to view your floor plan via high-speed internet and speak directly with our design team as you watch your desired revisions made from your own computer screen.

During this phase, we will also discuss finishing options – including windows and door styles, log and timber profiles, interior and exterior colors and textures, structural or decorative bracing, and other natural building materials to create the precise style you are envisioning. You will have the option to preview your custom design choices with ease by utilizing our optional three-dimensional rendering technology.

Upon the completion and approval of your drawings, Wisconsin Log Homes will distribute the plans to the contractor(s) of your choice. Unique to the industry, Wisconsin Log Homes has an in-house building crew and project manager, but we can also direct you to a reputable contractor in your area through our National Builder Network if you do not already have one in mind. Your home consultant will assist your builder with any questions or information they need to submit an accurate proposal and we can review the proposal with you to make sure you thoroughly understand the information. We will also be able to generate a contract price for your Wisconsin Log Homes Materials Package at this time.

Final Design Development

The Amber Ridge

When you are comfortable with all design and building aspects of your home, Final Design Development begins. At this time, final floor plans and elevations are combined and adjustments are made for proportion and scale. Every detail is reviewed, ensuring that the structure is accurate for construction. Upon the completion and approval of your final working drawings, Wisconsin Log Homes will begin the production of the custom log and timber components needed for your home. We will also establish a tentative ship date. Delivery begins after the excavation, foundation and entrance road are complete.

Wisconsin Log Homes requests a down payment starting at only $1.00 per square foot for Preliminary Design Drawings generated by our in-house design team. The complete down payment will be credited towards your Wisconsin Log Homes materials package. Final Working Drawings begin once we have a signed contract and 10% deposit on your complete materials package.

National Turn-Key Construction

Each client is assisted with construction in one form or another during the Wisconsin Log Homes experience. Some may decide to use our in-house, turn-key construction services while others want help qualifying or selecting a builder in their area. If you do not have a builder in mind, we can align you with skilled construction crews in your area who will meet the unique needs of you and your project. Our National Builder Network consists of qualified and experienced builders throughout the world who we work very closely with and trust to build our log, timber frame, and hybrid homes.
