shape of a home influences its overall cost.

Both "A" and "B" are 1,600 total square feet, yet "B", because of its 80' x 20' dimension, requires 25% additional time and materials to build (40 extra Linear Feet of concrete footings, poured basement walls, first floor framing, interior and exterior log, and finishing and flooring materials). In addition, you must also remember that plumbing, heating, and electrical runs will also be more costly in "B", which means the cost to build "B" will likely be 25% higher than "A".
